There is no shortage of amazing places to visit in Dubai. Every year, it opens more and more wonders that take all of us by surprise. Apart from the tallest towers and largest malls, there are also natural attractions. What comes to mind when you think of the greenest places in Dubai? Most of you would answer the Miracle Garden. But there is an even greener and even more romantic place in Dubai — the Love Lake.
The world came to know about Love Lake when the crown prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, shared a picture of this artificial lake on his Instagram handle. Ever since then, the place has had growing numbers of visitors every month.
A lake In the middle of the sands
Located in the middle of an arid desert, the lake and the lush green area surrounding it have an otherworldly look to it. When you look in any direction from the Love Lake, it is just sand as far as the eye can see except for this patch. Love Lake is located at a considerable distance away from all the major city centers. So why is it called Love Lake?
To understand that, you have to go up. The lake looks like two interlocking hearts from above. Two hearts over an area of 550,000 square meters. So, what better name to call it than Love Lake? Even the trees here spell out the word ‘Love’. Dedicated every inch to love, it can easily qualify as the most romantic place in Dubai.
A romantic place in the desert
Love Lake is in the Al Qudra oasis in Dubai. Anyone with romance in the heart will find this place irresistible. The first set of hearts that welcome you to the park is the large wooden carving on the entrance. There is love everywhere — in the air, on top of the trees, on the stones and walls, and even in the water. To make it even better, there is an awesome collection of flowers and plants.
There are over 16,000 trees and plants in the park that surrounds the Love Lake. The branches of the trees, begonia, the shrubs and everything are in the shape of the heart. Here, nature becomes a part of your love. Come here to fall in love over and over again.
Why visit Love Lake
Love Lake is so much more than just a barbecue spot or a place for an evening stroll. It is undoubtedly one of the innovative attractions in Dubai. Being far away from the city, the place is so peaceful and serene. If you plan to spend an evening with your loved one or friends and enjoy some quiet time, Love Lake is your option.
From here, you will witness the most beautiful sunset in Dubai. The orange glow of the sun coupled with golden sands and the greenery is beyond what words can describe. Therefore, the best time to visit Love Lake is an hour before sunset. When the weather is right, you can spend hours in the park just looking at everything around you and listening to the songs of birds.
Other than that, this is a great park for jogging, pet walking, and picnicking. Because there are no residential centers nearby, you won’t see many joggers here. You will come across a few cyclists who frequent the park, though.
You can actually get your feet wet and walk in the water. There are sign boards marking the shallow portions of the lake. One portion of the lake is a fish pond teeming with Koi Carp and Goldfish. Koi Carp with its big moth may scare you, but these fish are perfectly safe to touch. They don’t bite. There are also numerous Instagrammable spots in the Love Lake park. All of them in different shapes and forms of the heart.
When you look at the lake from the shore, you won’t see the heart shape but only a curved lake. To get the entire picture, you will have to be at least 50 meters above the ground. So your only option is to fly a drone or to get on a helicopter. The latter option is but not possible now. There is an easy workaround. Just look at the satellite view of the lake on Google maps.
Facilities in Love Lake
Love Lake is a testimony to Dubai’s environmental friendly vision for the future. Every inch of the Love Lake is eco-friendly. The park benches to tissue boxes are made of biodegradable materials. You can even see basins made of bamboo and tree.
There is a fenced area named Hadirah in the park with picnicking facilities, like running water, barbecue stands, washrooms, and benches. There are three jogging tracks in the park, which stretch over a total of 7 kilometers. These tracks in the park glow in the dark which makes the park suitable for running even after sunset. Even the stones that mark the distance of the track are in the shape of hearts.
Near the entrance, there is a map of the lake and the park, engraved on a wooden plank. You can see the heart in anything here. There is a heart-shaped badminton court which you are not allowed to touch. It is only for snapping pictures. The group of red flowers in the garden form a giant red heart. Because of all of these, the love lake is one of the most photogenic places in Dubai.
There are no shops or restaurants near Love Lake as of now. So remember to bring food and water with you when you come. There are also no lamps. There are a lot of wooden park benches for you to sit and enjoy the view. And there are swings of large tree branches if you like some fun. But these are not suitable for young children.
